hi,

i have problems with testing the pen widths.

i have:
the latest PolargraphSD v3.0 full assembled kid. So its the new one I guess.
I don't really know if I have the Arduino uno or mega, sorry

I did some good drawings already. I tried some settings and learning how the machine is working.

But, I cannot test the pen widths! I did it like it is written here: https://www.instructables.com/id/Polargraph-Drawing-Machine/

but no results.

happy to get some help 😉 thx!

Oops! Good spot 🙂

Embarrassingly: https://github.com/euphy/polargraph_server_polarshield_esp32/blob/master/src/exec.ino#L43-L44 shows this command commented out.

I commented all the functions out when I was porting to ESP32, and gradually put them back in with fixed. I don't know why I left this one!

I'll have a go at restoring it, sorry!

I've just pushed a new change to https://github.com/euphy/polargraph_server_polarshield_esp32 that reinstates the function!

Hi! There's a few ways to upload it, shown here:

okay sorry, I don't get it. I am not able to do that. I need a step by step manual, I think.

And now my PolargraphSD is broken I think. the proportions are not correct anymore when I am moving the pen on the controller to a point, it is not the same point on the Paper. So what should I do now? Is it a Firmware problem? any help?

Hi Matthias, I'm sorry you've found these problems, and I'm away from a proper computer so can't write up a more complete guide on how to update the firmware at the moment.

The good news is, I suppose, that you can always dial the tip size in manually, just by drawing a line and measuring the size of it with a ruler, and a magnifying glass if you need to!

If you find your drawings are suddenly off, first of all double check your numbers. Upload the machine spec and always remember to set home before moving. If movement is suddenly jerky, or discontinuous, or the motors have no "bite" then there's a chance there's something else going on to do with a loose connection or a power supply issue. AFAIK, no Polargraph machine has ever broken, in a way that couldn't be mended through software or by re-seating parts in their sockets. Unless it fell off the wall and smashed on the ground!
